Take That, Stupid Ground
I don’t know about you, but I personally thought Ironman was a fantastic movie. By far one of the best superhero movies that have come out of the pleathora of comic book films Hollywood’s been churning out. Well I was sitting at my house bored so I decided to play the demo for the Ironman game. Now I’m not a huge fan of movie-based video games, but I thought I’d give it a try. What a mistake. If they movie was half as bad as the game is would have bombed opening night. It’s one of those game you know the developers spent 20 minutes looking over the movie to decide what should be in the game.

Case in point – the “ground pound”. Evidentally in recent years some idiot drew Ironman in this pose:
And it’s now become synonymous with the character. Now granted I haven’t exactly read all the Ironman comic books out there but I’ve discussed this with friends who have probably read 200+ issues of Iron Man and none of us recall him ever once punching the ground. Nonetheless, almost every set of press material and merchandise in the past few years has him in that pose. (Examples below)
I don’t even understand it.
Why is he hitting the ground?
Is he mad at it?
Does it owe him money?
Does Stark Industries have a lucrative highway construction contract and he’s trying to drum up business?
It really wouldn’t bother me if it didn’t come up so much, for instance: every single time you land in the game. 300 yards from the enemy? Ground pound. Landing while trying sneak up on an enemy? Ground pound. Hitting pause to get a drink? Ground pound.
We get it. Iron Man hates the ground.
