Non-Inverted World

I HATE THAT I LIVE IN A NON-INVERTED WORLD!!! My roomate and I were playing Call of Duty 4 on the xbox the other day and were discussing inverted vs non-inverted controls. He uses the “standard” non inverted controls while I use the “non-standard” inverted controls. My point was that inverted controls should be the standard and non-inverted be non-standard. My reasoning behind this is pretty simple and straightforward. Games (especially FPS: First Person Shooter) up until recently have alway had the default controls set to act like a flight joystick. Pull back to go up and push forward to go down. For some reason someone over in Japan decided to start making games where the joystick acts more like a computer mouse pointer. I could understand the reasoning behind this for 2 dimensional games or navigating a menu, you push the joystick in the direction you want the cursor to go. But to actually change it a 3D enviroment makes no sense at all. My friend says that it’s the “natural feeling way a joystick should work”. Well to that I say, what if the kids that play non-inverted become pilots, they will go for their first flight and push forward to try and go up and crash the plane because that’s NOT the way a joystick works!
